big fish review: the green room

“…we have to talk about the skill level of lead actor Micheal Walley. He brings Edward to life in full force with charisma, love, and tender heroicism packing into a performance that probably only offers mere minutes of off-stage time.” – Kelsey Keny, The Green Room

Big fish review: jhp entertainment

“As Edward Bloom, Micheal Walley bursts onto the stage with charisma and conviction. From his first entrance, his speech pattern and delivery lands near Mark Twain’s distinctive Southern storytelling drawl — deliberate, charming, measured — and for some reason put me in mind of French Stewart’s Harry Solomon from “Third Rock from the Sun”, quick with an unexpected sarcastic bite. The blend gives Edward both homespun authenticity and razor-edged comedic timing, a balance that keeps the character from drifting into caricature. The subtle but effective vocal change between younger Edward to his more frail self in later years is quite interesting to take in.” – Jonathan Pinkerton, JHP Entertainment

esther review: broadwayworld nashville

Walley very nearly walks off with the show as the outrageously fabulous and fey eunuch (at least that is, we presume, what the writer is going for with the character) who lends a queer eye to Esther’s preparations to win the King’s proposal. Walley‘s broadly comic performance, however, proves to be a clear audience favorite.” – Jef Ellis, BroadwayWorld Nashville
