To my 2013 London Semester Program friends,
I am jealous of you. I am jealous that you are going to spend 3 months in the greatest city in the world. I am jealous that you will have all of the culture, art, and lifestyle of the British at your fingertips. I am jealous that your world is about to be opened up in a way that was for me when I went to London.
Take advantage of every moment over the next few months. You have the opportunity to broaden your education in a way that is simply not possible by staying in Clinton. You are going to have experiences and see things that you would have only heard about if not for your choice to spend a semester in London.
The London Semester changed my life. It was the best three months of my life so far. In that three months, I learned more than I had ever had before, and I actually became serious about my education. In that three months, God took me out of my comfort zone that was MC and showed me how big His glory is by having experiences and having spiritual epiphanies that only happened because He put me in London. In that three months, I realized just how big the body of Christ is by worshipping with other believers and even having my faith challenged in ways it had never been before.
This semester is in no way going to be easy. You’re going to miss your friends and normal life back at MC at times. Living with 20 something people in a hotel and having class together everyday will be difficult at times. You will possibly be offended by some of the viewpoints of people, and you may not understand everything that someone says to you in a British accent. But, every challenge is worth it because you will grow and will appreciate every experience that is put before you this semester.
I desperately wish I could be with you as you go on a class tour with the Rumbelows, grow a love of theatre with Ian, and even watch Dr. Bracken’s thousands of slides of Renaissance paintings.
I am praying for each of you individually and as a group that you all become as great of a family as my group did, and that you all learn and have the time of your life.
Now go have the best adventure in the world.
-Micheal
